The Food Commons
Reclaiming Land • Cultivating Community
1.8 Acres • Powerhouse Road • Revelstoke, BC
This is not just a farm; it is a monumental urban transformation. The Food Commons is a landmark partnership between the Indigenous Friendship Society of Revelstoke (IFSR) and the Revelstoke Local Food Initiative (LFI). Together, we are reclaiming a historically industrial urban plot and creating a high-impact epicenter for food sovereignty and cultural exchange.
Healing the Land
Decades of industrial use left this soil damaged. We are launching "reconciliation through remediation." This massive ecosystem restoration reintroduces powerful native species—like birch trees and hazelnut bushes—to build healthy soil systems. This is more than gardening; it is an active healing of the local environment.
A Living Classroom
The Food Commons is a next-generation living classroom. We blend ancient, traditional Indigenous knowledge with cutting-edge sustainable farming technologies to build a resilient, year-round food source that secures Revelstoke's future.
